Maria's passion for guiding young minds and nurturing their potential was evident from her early years, leading to her graduation from St. Maria Teacher's School in 1983. Her relentless pursuit of academic excellence led her to attain a degree from Sahid Tourism and Entrepreneurial University in 1986.
However, Maria's educational journey was far from complete as she embarked on mastering the English language, relocating to Singapore to study at the British Council and Baking School.
After several enriching years in Singapore, Maria returned to Jakarta and took up a role in an investment firm. Despite her corporate success, she felt a deeper calling and remembered her former principal's advice to start a children’s learning center.
Heeding this advice, Maria left the corporate world to begin tutoring a youngster, particularly focusing on helping kids age 3 - 12 years old who struggle with speech delay through the phonics method.
With a blend of commitment and innovative teaching methods, Maria’s instruction in phonics brought about remarkable improvements in the children.
Her first student showed impressive progress, and his younger sibling, also under Maria's guidance, excelled in a debate competition. Maria's reputation for her unique teaching style grew, and she started educating children in their homes.
In 2011, Maria took a significant step by renting a space, and by 2013, she established her own educational establishment, Phonics World Indonesia, in Bellezza Permata Hijau.
This learning centre quickly became known as a top phonics education centre in South Jakarta, particularly for children with speech delays. Despite the challenges of expansion, Maria's dedication to enhancing children's lives through education remained unshaken.
Phonics World Indonesia is the culmination of Maria's lifelong dream, a dream that transformed into reality through her perseverance and dedication.
Maria's primary goal is to transform children into exceptional individuals, starting with those who have speech delays. She believes that becoming proficient readers, speakers, and writers is a vital step in their development.
Utilising her expertise in the English language, Maria ensures that learning is fun, fast, and effective for every child at Phonics World Indonesia.
